The Mindfulness Tree was founded by Dr Michael Roberts in 2018. It seeks to create secular mindfulness communities across the UK, where people can experience the joys and benefits of regular mindfulness practice, supported by one another.
Trees are traditional places for communities to gather, and we currently support two communities in Coventry and Rugby, with a vision of many more in the future.
Michael Roberts trained to teach with Suryacitta Malcolm Smith (“The Happy Buddha”). He completed PhD research on mindfulness-meditation at the University of Birmingham (2014-2019), examining the ways that meditation can enhance people’s self-understanding.
Tulie Smith is a trained MBSR Mindfulness practitioner, having completed 200 hours of training with the Dorset Mindfulness centre in 2018. She has a richly experienced, holistic background in teaching Yoga and Meditation across the West Midlands for over 20 years. Tulie is also a qualified Counselling Therapist and has worked in Education and Mental Health charitable sector in Coventry.
Tulie has a passion for exploring and supporting the relationship between our Body-Mind-Environment and Spirit. As a skilled facilitator, Tulie holds the space for groups and individuals to feel safely supported and grounded, tapping into our inner resources of stillness, compassion and joy.
